Apple unveils upgraded Mac mini with powerful M2 and M2 Pro chips, featuring faster next-generation CPU and GPU, significantly increased memory bandwidth, and advanced media engine capabilities. Despite rumors of a design overhaul, the new Mac mini maintains the same sleek and compact form factor as its predecessor. Apple has announced the release of its new Mac mini models, which feature the powerful M2 and M2 Pro chips. The M2 model boasts an 8-core CPU with four high-performance and four high-efficiency cores, as well as a 10-core GPU, ProRes acceleration, and the ability to simultaneously play up to two streams of 8K ProRes 422 video at 30 fps, or up to 12 streams of 4K ProRes 422 video at 30 fps. The M2 Pro model takes performance to the next level with up to 12-core CPU, up to a 19-core GPU, 200GB/s of memory bandwidth, and up to 32GB of memory. It also has a 40% faster next-generation Neural Engine, and can simultaneously play up to five streams of 8K ProRes 422 video at 30 fps, or up to 23 streams of 4K ProRes 422 video at 30 fps.
The M2 Pro model is up to 14 times faster than the fastest Intel-based Mac mini. Both models include two Thunderbolt 4 ports, support for up to two displays, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, and a Gigabit Ethernet port with a 10GB option, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and an upgraded headphone jack to support high-impedance headphones. They come with 8GB (M2) or 16GB (M2 Pro) unified memory, which is configurable up to 24GB with M2 or 32GB with M2 Pro and storage is configurable up to 2TB with M2 or up to 8TB with M2 Pro.
The new Mac mini models with M2 and M2 Pro are available to order today, January 17, on apple.com/in/store and in the Apple Store app in 27 countries and regions, including the US. They will ship starting Tuesday, January 24.
