The top of the X80 Pro range is certainly the most complete and arrives on the market with an unusual feature. The smartphone is marketed in two variants, one with Qualcomm SoC and one with MediaTek SoC. The new X80 has the same dimensions as the Pro, the same design but slightly lower-end specs. Let's see all the details related to the new Vivo X80 and X80 Pro and their respective technical data sheets:
Let's start with the Vivo X80 Pro, the brand's flagship. The new smartphone offers a very high level technical sector and arrives on the market in two variants. These two versions of the top of the Vivo range differ from each other for the SoC model used. One version uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 while another includes the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC.
Net of this difference at the SoC level, the data sheet of the new Vivo X80 does not present other variables. The smartphone can count on a 6.78-inch diagonal AMOLED display with QHD + resolution (3200 x 1440 pixels). The LTPO 3.0 panel can count on an adaptive refresh rate with a maximum value of 120 Hz. As for the brightness of the panel, however, Vivo declares a peak of 1500 nits.
The Snapdragon variant of the smartphone starts with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and reaches up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. There is also an intermediate cut with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. As for the version with Dimensity 9000, however, only the 12 GB RAM cuts are available. The entry level model (8/128 GB) is, therefore, available exclusively with Qualcomm SoC.
The photographic sector, on the other hand, includes four rear cameras with 50 Megapixel ISOCELL GNV main sensor with OIS, 48 Megapixel IMX598 ultra-wide angle sensor, 2x 12 Megapixel telephoto sensor and 5x optical and 60x digital 8 Megapixel periscopic sensor. The front camera is 32 megapixel. The photographic sector can count on the support of Zeiss optics and the presence of the ISP Vivo V1 Plus.
A look at the new ISOCELL GNV:
One of the key elements of the new Vivo X80 is represented by the reference point of the photographic sector. We are talking about the 50 Megapixel ISOCELL GNV sensor. The sensor was born from a collaboration between Vivo and Samsung and (pending official confirmation on the matter) should be a modified version of the ISOCELL GN1, launched by Samsung in February 2021. The sensor supports dual-pixel autofocus and pixel binning 4 in 1 promising excellent performance and a very fast autofocus in low light conditions. This sensor can record video in 8K at 30 fps and is able, thanks to the algorithm, to capture 100 Megapixel shots. As previously pointed out, Vivo can also count on a custom ISP, called Vivo V1 Plus, created in collaboration with MediaTek. It will be necessary to check the first field tests to get a more precise idea of the real performance of the new sensor.
Vivo X80: Same dimensions as the Pro but lower-end specs:
Let's now move on to the new Vivo X80. The smartphone is available in only one variant, with SoC MediaTek Dimensity 9000. The display dimensions are similar to the Pro variant but the panel is different. The new Vivo X80, in fact, mounts a Samsung AMOLED E5 display with a diagonal of 6.78 inches and Full HD + resolution (2376 x 1080 pixels) with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Also in this case, the peak brightness is 1500 nits .
The smartphone arrives on the market in four combinations of RAM and storage. There is the base model with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB as well as a second base variant with 8/256 GB. The most complete versions are 12 GB of RAM and 256/512 GB of storage. Note that the RAM memory is LPDDR5 while the storage memory is UFS 3.1. Battery capacity drops to 4,500mAh but support for 80W fast charging and 50W wireless charging is confirmed.
Prices and availability:
The new Vivo X80 and Vivo X80 Pro will arrive on the market, in China, starting from April 29th. For the moment, the brand has not anticipated any details regarding a future marketing on a global scale. More details in this regard will come in the near future. As for prices, however, the range of the Vivo X80 starts at 3,699 Yuan, equal to just over 520 euros at the current exchange rate. The new Pro, on the other hand, starts at 5,499 Yuan, just over 780 euros. It should be noted that the versions with Qualcomm and MediaTek SoC, with the same RAM and storage, have the same price.
