Android 13 is gradually finding its way to smartphones and, to a lesser extent, tablets, but nothing is known about the platform for smart TVs. Google has officially released the Android 13 Beta, which will power the Google TV, also known as Android TV.
Google is rapidly releasing the Android 13 beta for TV. Beta 1 was released less than two weeks ago, on May 6. Again, it was solely for developers to verify if their app was compatible with the OS and how audio would be routed.
Following this, there will be two more betas until the official release of Android 13 Beta for TV. Android 13 Beta for TV will be more reliable in Beta 3. Beta 4 will be used for final app and feature testing. According to the roadmap, Android 13 will be released sometime after July.
While the original Android 13 beta for Android TV was unsatisfactory, the current release features something that consumers have been asking for – a redesigned picture-in-picture mode.
Although Android TV has always supported picture-in-picture mode, Android 13 will be the first to allow developers to create enlarged PiP windows. The Picture-in-Picture API has been enhanced to handle the multi-window instances on the screen. As a result, end users may modify the size of a PiP window without difficulty. This is especially handy for those who use their televisions to make video conversations or watch security camera feeds since they can accommodate more participants or streams. A new docked mode will also be introduced, which resizes the primary programs to allow PiP windows to be situated on the edges.

As is customary, Android TV 13 previews will be limited to the ADT-3 development device. It's unclear when, if ever, the Chromecast with Google TV upgrade will be released.
