The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be used in the ASUS ROG Phone 7 series, which is expected to be one of the limited mobile devices geared towards gaming. While reports originally suggested that the smartphone would be launched in the summer, recent information has surfaced which indicates a potentially earlier release date.
Asus is set to release its ROG 7 series, which will feature three models. The model numbers for the ROG Phone 7 are AI2205_A/B/C for the global, China, and India markets respectively. Meanwhile, the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate/7 Pro will be designated as AI2205_E/F for the global and China markets. Lastly, the China variant will be called ROG Phone 7D, with a model number of AI2205_D.
In terms of specifications, the ROG 7 series will have an AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 165Hz. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 SoC, and it will have up to 16GB of RAM and storage options of either 256GB or 512GB. The phones will run on the Android 13 operating system right out of the box.
One notable feature of the phones will be a cooling mechanism to regulate thermals, which is an important aspect for mobile devices geared towards gaming. This mechanism will help ensure that the phones perform optimally, even during extended gaming sessions.
