Fresh reports have emerged that revive the previous speculations about a potential partnership between MediaTek and Nvidia for upcoming mobile chips. These reports resurface several months after initial rumors hinted at MediaTek's intention to incorporate Nvidia AI GPUs into their top-of-the-line mobile System-on-Chip (SoC). The latest information indicates that MediaTek, the manufacturer of mobile SoCs, is planning to integrate Nvidia GPUs into their forthcoming mobile processors.
According to a recent report published by DigiTimes Asia, MediaTek is anticipated to incorporate an Nvidia GPU into its next-generation flagship mobile processor. These processors are expected to hit the market as early as 2024. If these speculations turn out to be true, it could potentially pave the way for smartphones featuring either the Ada Lovelace architecture or the rumored Blackwell GPU architecture.
It is worth noting that the Ada Lovelace architecture, which is currently found in Nvidia-powered laptops and desktops, may not be as powerful in the mobile context due to the constraints of limited power budgets.
In addition to the mobile sector, MediaTek is reportedly working in collaboration with Nvidia on a Windows On Arm (WOA) platform designed for notebooks and Chromebooks. This partnership follows previous reports of Nvidia's efforts to leverage AI technologies and introduce their computational power into mobile System-on-Chips (SoCs). Sources mentioned by DigiTimes also indicated that the joint development of WOA platform products, combining Nvidia GPU and AI technologies, will aid both companies in expanding their presence in the notebook market.
