Wi-Fi 7 Networking Pro Series processors for enterprise access points, premium residential routers, and advanced mesh systems have been unveiled by Qualcomm. They provide up to 33 Gbps quad-band bandwidth over 16 streams, improved connection stability, and less interference. The four platforms part of this series support much wider 320MHz channels over 2.4GHz, 5Hz, and 6GHz spectrums.
Several vendors have launched solutions in the Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) sector in recent months. Earlier last year, Mediatek showcased 802.11be-compliant silicon under the Filogic brand. During the ceremony, no specific technical details or part numbers were revealed. Broadcom unveiled its Wi-Fi 7 portfolio last month, which included several 802.11be radios for access points, a networking SoC designed with 802.11be bandwidth in mind, and a client radio for mobile applications.
- Qualcomm Technologies is presently sampling the world's most scalable Wi-Fi 7 networking platform portfolio for next-generation enterprise access points, high-performance routers, and carrier gateways, with solutions ranging from 6 to 16 streams.
- Key Wi-Fi 7 capabilities including 320MHz channel support are available on third-generation Qualcomm® Networking Pro Series platforms, setting new performance benchmarks in wireless networking with up to 33 Gbps wireless interface capacity and peak throughputs of over 10 Gbps.
- These Qualcomm Networking Pro Series platforms build on Qualcomm's tradition of inventive, bespoke architectural design tailored for multi-user settings to power today's and tomorrow's home and corporate collaboration, telepresence, XR, metaverse, and immersive gaming applications.
- Qualcomm Technologies' turnkey service for Automated Frequency Control (AFC) enables the maximum performance attainable in the 6GHz frequency band on Qualcomm Networking Pro Series systems.
While Wi-Fi 6/6E was adopted in 2019 and 2020, firms are already looking ahead to the next-generation standard, called 802.11be by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
